After a couple of years dreaming about the day the garage is more than storage for tools and an eye sore, both the Historic Preservation Board and the Planning Board of the City of Ithaca approved the infill project. The non-significant structure built in the 60's by the American Red Cross (out of cmu block) will now become a small apartment close to everything in town. Upon our return in July from a semester researching plazas in Puerto Rico, Zac began and led the submittal process for this project. As always we recruited the help of our friend and architect Noah Demarest from STREAM Collaborative and Javier Rosa from Taitem Engineering. Lucky for us, one of our cool neighbors happens to be the owner of Precision Builders, Chris - who looks like the Dude in The Big Lebowski - and has been always a great pro-bono advisor in the project. Now that we are under construction our friends Eric and Rafa work with us tirelessly to make this a reality. Through this blog we will keep you posted of the progress.
